Privacy policy

The short version

Your prayers are yours. We collect as little as we can, we don't sell data, and we don't show ads. Speech recognition is used only to follow along as you pray, and is never recorded. Nothing you write is shown to anyone else unless you place a prayer on the Founders' Wall.

What we store

Your account. When you first open the app, an anonymous ID is created so your data can sync. No name, email, or password is required to use Speak Faith. If you choose to add an email so your practice survives a lost phone, we store that email to sign you in.

Your practice. Prayers you write, favorites, prayer completions, points and streaks, journal entries, Scripture memory, and personal goals are stored against your account with our database provider, Supabase, so they survive reinstalls. We do not read, analyze, or share them.

Preferences on your device. Theme choice, reminder times, your chosen scene and voice, and prayers you hide on the Founders' Wall are stored locally on your device only.

The Founders' Wall

If you are a Founding Member and place a prayer on the Founders' Wall, the words and the name you sign it with are shown to everyone using the app, once we have read and approved them. The wall never shows your account, email, or anything else about you. You can take your prayer down at any time.

When you submit a prayer, it is emailed to us for review (through our email provider, Resend), and it is checked by an AI model from Anthropic so the app can show you where to find help at once if the prayer suggests you may be in danger. Anthropic processes the text only to return that check and does not use it to train its models.

If you report a prayer on the wall, we store that your account reported it, so the same report isn't counted twice.

Your voice

When you recite a prayer aloud, Speak Faith listens through your microphone, with your permission, using your device's built-in speech recognition service (Google on Android, Apple on iOS). Depending on your device, that service may process audio on its provider's servers under their policies. Speak Faith itself does not record, store, or transmit audio of your prayers, and the recognized words are used only in the moment to advance the on-screen text. They are never saved.

Prayers read aloud to you in Devotional Mode are recordings we made in advance. Listening to them sends nothing about you anywhere.

Notifications

Prayer reminders and trial reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Nothing about them leaves your phone, and you can turn them off in the app or your system settings.

Purchases

Devotional Mode and Founding Membership purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store and validated by our subscription processor, RevenueCat, which receives your account ID and purchase receipts and nothing more. We never see your payment details.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't show ads or embed advertising SDKs. We don't run analytics that identify you personally. We don't share your prayers or journal entries with anyone, apart from a prayer you choose to place on the Founders' Wall.

Children

Speak Faith is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account, and everything stored with it, from Profile, Account, in the app. You can also email us and we will delete it for you.
